Sit facing East. Light the lamp while chanting "Om Deepa Jothiye Namaha."

Om Ananta Rupini Potri (Praise be to the one without any end or beginning)

(Translation: The light of the lamp is the Supreme Brahman, the light is the Mother. The light is the complete whole, the light is auspiciousness.)

Chant "Om Shanti Shanti Shanti" or "Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu" and light the lamp. Light the center wick first, followed by the others clockwise.

Sit comfortably facing the lamp. Hold loose flower petals or kumkum in your right hand. Recite each verse below, offering a petal or a pinch of kumkum to the base of the lamp after every line.
