In December 2025, a horrific case came to light from the Shamgarh area, under the jurisdiction of Indore. Two youths allegedly forced a 16-year-old girl to record an obscene video at knifepoint. They then blackmailed her family for Rs 5 Lakh. When the family failed to pay the full amount, the accused circulated the video on social media. The video going viral led to widespread protests, a complete shutdown of Shamgarh, and intense pressure on the police to act. The accused were eventually arrested under the POCSO Act.
